Susan Hiller studied anthropology until she decided, in the late sixties on a research trip to Central America, to turn instead to art. She travelled in Europe and in 1973 she had her first solo exhibition in London.
In her work she uses installations and filmmaking. Her themes are connected to how we as humans experience things and phenomena?s. In that way her work has often been analyzed from and connected to the thoughts of Lacan and Freud.
She now lives and works in London.
