Mary Beth Reed is a young american filmmaker whose films combine photographed footage with hand-painted film and manipulation of the optical printer, mixing animation and abstraction into a kaleidoscopic flow of hand painted and optically printed film. She creates films of exquisite colour and imagery that dance across the screen with a mesmerising and unique rhythmic quality.

She has worked and studied with Stan Brakhage at the University of Colorado in Boulderon some of his later films including the "Chinese Series" and "Micro-Garden, and also colaborated with with Stan Brakhage and Phil Solomon
