Scriptwriter and director, Marcel L' Herbier was presidente and founder of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinematographiques (IDHEC) in 1943. The reputation of the school in teaching the different aspects of production as well as in theory and criticism, attracted a huge studeny body oncluding future film masters as Louis Malle, Volker Schlöndorff and Costa Gavras.
