Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and Munich. Kessler´s work consists of subtle disruptions and interventions in urban space. Along with benign actions like replacing public light bulbs and trimming hedges, he punches holes in traffic signs, installs locks on phone booths, and changes the water pressure on fountains. Often dressed as a janitor or worker, he performs his odd adjustments to the public space unnoticed by officials. His interventions are sometimes baffling, but their unusual use of government property as a medium suggests a quiet subversion of authority.
