Culturale Prometeo commited its activities to the support of the most engaged positions from the international art scene. In its almost 400 sqm space, the ancient San Matteo Church, Associazione Prometeo commisioned significant works, such as "Klassemkampf" and "Poliuretane spraying on 18 persons" by Santiago Sierra, or Gianni Motti?s "Turn Over". At the same time the Associazione Prometeo presented a large number of solo and group shows, such as the renowned "Produciendo Realidad" featuring over 30 artists from Latin America. In order to promote the work of these artists, Associazione Prometeo has cooperated with renowned critics and curators and has produced a wide series of catalogues and research papers.
The great interest arisen by the art positions presented by Associazione Prometeo and also the necessity to facilitate their access to the European art market, led to the opening in 2005 of a commercial space prometeogallery. Situated in Milan, in the buzzing area of Lambrate, prometeogallery has presented a solid exhibition programme, which includes artists from different areas, using different media. It combines already established artists, such as Santiago Sierra and Regina Jose Galindo awarded with the Golden Lion in the 2005 edition of Venice Biennale- together with younger and emerging positions.
Directed by Ida Pisani, prometeogallery continues and broadens the activity started by Associazione Prometeo in Lucca, with a special emphasis on the artistic production of pheripherial regions and on the most radical approaches of the international art scene.
