Melanie Printup Hope's work explores her Tuscadora/Native American identity and ancestry, conveying her personal experiences of cultural and spiritual growth through the use of drawing, traditional beadwork, sculpture, computer-generated images, animation, digitized sound, video, and installation. Melanie Printup Hope has worked as Associate Professor at The Sage Colleges, Albany, NY, since 1997. She was a Guest Lecturer at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Aboriginal Arts Program in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2001, and received a Lyn Blumenthal Memorial Fund for Independent Video Media Arts Award in 1998. "My work is an exploration of my Native American identity and ancestry. As I weave together ancient traditional beadwork with highly advanced skills in electronic arts, I fill each piece with the wisdom of my ancestors while incorporating present day struggles within the community." ?Melanie Printup Hope
