Born in 1930 in Hollywood. In 1947, his first prize-winning film, «Fireworks,» became a classic film of the underground and a source for gay iconography. He spent the late 60s and early 70s in England, involving British pop stars in his work, and inspiring the Rolling Stones' hit «Sympathy for the Devil.»
