Lucas Ajemian works with a large variety of media, both video, sculpture, drawing and performance. Ajemian's works are conceptual, sometimes containing appropriations and references to other artists. His work deals wih subjectivity, urbanity and compulsory activities, focusing on small cracks of absurdity and dysfunction in everyday life and various kinds of structural breakdowns, mentally and topographically.
Often incorporated in these investigations, is a humorous critique of consumer society, tourism and politics. Very characteristic of Ajemian?s practice, is a media overlap, where he makes sculptures out of video stills or film out of drawings of video frames, thus moving back and forth between digital and analogue signs in different dimensions. The artist?s poetics are aesthetically beautiful, expressed by a conceptual subtlety.
