Susan Youssef received the Bettye Nowlin Award for Excellence in Filmmaking for her film Las Amigas Bonitas at the 2002 Cinematexas International Short Film Festival. Youssef's films characterize by her social compromise touches issues as Gaza war situation and how prisioners are treated in Guantanamo.
